Mixed emotions on new Move Forward guburnatorial candidate

Thailand’s Move Forward Party has selected a candidate for Bangkok’s gubernatorial election, the party’s spokesperson Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn. Party chief Pita Limjaroenrat was proud to introduce Wiroj, saying no other candidate had “the get together DNA” like him. Many of the party’s supporters agree with Pita, however some observers say Move Forward failed to find a more skilled, certified candidate.
One programme supervisor at a regulation reform organisation mentioned Wiroj doesn’t have the type of debate expertise wanted for politics. He identified that Wiroj typically appeals to voters’ emotions, particularly frustration. Critics have called this negative campaigning, although Wiroj insists it’s practical campaigning. He says he offers sincere facts and provides realistic options. Wiroj holds a bachelor’s diploma in automotive engineering, and a master’s in enterprise administration. The forty four year old worked in engineer and government positions earlier than he transitioned into politics.
In 2018, Wiroj co-founded the Future Forward Party, a progressive opposition party, with Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, a staunch critic of the military’s involvement in Thai politics, and Piyabutr Saengkanokkul. Thailand’s Constitutional Court dissolved the Future Foward Party in February 2020 over violations related to party donations. After the celebration was dissolved, Wiroj and heaps of other MPs joined the Move Forward Party.
Wiroj mentioned on Monday, “I want to show what a Move Forward authorities would look like… My purpose is to prove how good I could be at running an administration with an (annual) price range of a hundred billion baht.”
Wiroj has accused PM Prayut Chan-o-cha’s government of funding army intelligence operations against political opponents. Freebie speaks out against the federal government on social media..
